What's new in Must Read 3.5.3

No new features this time. A release that goes back over the quiet parts and makes sure the time you spend reading is recorded against the book you were actually reading.

Fixed

Your reading time, on the right book

Books come in editions. You might start a paperback, then swap to the hardback you actually own, and Must Read has always let you do that without losing your progress, your rating or your history.

What it did not do was tell the running timer. If you changed edition while a session was still going, that session could be filed against the edition you had just left. It looked right on screen, so there was nothing to notice.

The timer now asks which book you are reading at the moment it saves, rather than remembering what you told it when you pressed start. Swap mid-session and the time lands where it belongs.

Fixed

Sessions that stayed behind

In rare cases a finished session could stay on your phone instead of reaching your library, while the app went on showing the time as recorded. If you read on one device and checked your statistics on another, the numbers could quietly disagree.

That path is closed. A session is only ever marked as filed once it has genuinely arrived.

Improved

Search that doesn't mind accents

Searching inside a genre, or on an author's page, used to take accents literally. Type cafe and Cafe would come back while Cafรฉ stayed hidden, which is a strange thing to ask of anyone typing quickly on a phone.

Both now read accents the way the main search already did. Type it the easy way and you will still find the book.

And everything else

Siri finishes the whole book

Ask Siri to mark a book finished and every edition of it finishes, not just the copy Siri happened to pick.

A faster answer

Finishing a book by voice no longer waits on a slow connection before Siri replies.

Steadier browsing

Paging through a prolific author's books no longer repeats a title on one page and hides another.

Smaller fixes

Refinements throughout, the sort you only notice by not noticing them.
