What's new in Must Read 3.6.1
Bring your books over from five apps and see every match before anything is added. Start reading on Apple Watch in one tap, see each book's status in your lists, and plenty of fixes.
Import from five apps
Import Library already read Goodreads and StoryGraph. It now reads Book Tracker, Reading List and Booklog too, so you can bring your books over from five apps.
Pick the wrong card by mistake and a Book Tracker, Reading List or Booklog file is still recognised for what it is.
See what you get before it lands
Until now an import went straight into your library, and the only way to see what had happened was to go and look. Now nothing is added until you say so.
Once your file is matched, you see every book first: the ones we found, grouped by status, the ones already in your library, and the ones we couldn't find, which can come in as private entries. Filter by status, and leave out any book you don't want before you tap Import.
Pick a file you've imported before and the app tells you when, rather than quietly adding nothing. The last screen stays until you close it, with what was added and what was updated.
Apple Watch, one tap to start
Start Reading on the watch now starts your session straight away. It used to ask for a starting page and then for a second Start. Most sessions begin exactly where the last one ended, so the question is gone. If you did start somewhere else, you can still set the page from the session itself, and your iPhone now records the change.
Books you track by percentage get their own dial. Before, the watch timed the session and asked you to update your progress on iPhone. Now the Digital Crown moves 1% at a time, and the progress is saved with the session.
Your lists know what you've read
A list is often a mix: some books finished, some on the go, some still waiting. Every book in a list now shows its status, the same way it does in your Library: Reading, Completed, Want to Read or Did Not Finish. A book in a list that isn't in your library says so.
You can also filter a list by status, just like your Library, so a list of this year's picks can show only what you haven't read yet.
Edit sessions from the Reading calendar
Tap any session in your Reading calendar to change its date, time, pages or notes, or to delete it. A session logged on the wrong day can be put right from the day you find it.
Finish dates that go back in time
Readers who wrote to us were logging books they had finished earlier in the year, and found that Date Finished couldn't go earlier than Date Started. The start date is set the moment you change a book's status, so it was usually today, and every book needed two date changes instead of one.
Date Finished can now be any day, and the start date moves back with it when it needs to.
And everything else
Widgets on a Clear Home Screen
On the Clear and Tinted Home Screen, widgets showed white squares where the covers should be. They show the covers now.
Sessions in Arabic
On iPhones set to Arabic, reading sessions weren't reaching your account. They do now.
Square covers in full
Square covers, like audiobooks and picture books, show in full instead of being cropped.
Long titles, room to breathe
Long subtitles no longer crowd the title in your Library, the reading timer, widgets and on Apple Watch. Book pages show long titles in full.
Taps that land
A quick tap right after closing a book now opens what you tapped. And the Add a book tile on Explore lets you choose Scan or Search.
Siri, clearer
Siri's answers show book titles and authors clearly, not dark on dark, and its count of the books you've finished is in your language.
Share cards, tidied
On the Monthly Reads cards, numbers now stand as tall as the letters. The Currently Reading card keeps the percent on each cover without the thin bar.
1 book, not 1 books
A count of one now reads 1 book, as it should.
