Chasing Shadows The Things We Do In Life That Don't Bring Purpose

Have you ever wondered why you do things that do not bring purpose to your life? Do you wonder why you keep doing them anyway? Have you started habits that cause you trouble and misery? Have you pursued relationship after relationship without finding the qualities you really desire in a person? Are you taking people in your life for granted, allowing friendships to die, rather than making the time to nurture them? Is your attitude preventing you from reaching your full potential and achieving your goals and dreams? Are you wasting time, not realizing that every moment counts? Do your actions and attitudes bring you grief, disappointment, or pain? Do you find yourself looking for temporal satisfactions in things, only to later feel desolate, lonely, and frustrated? As I ponder these intriguing questions in Chasing Shadows, I highlight the things that people do which do not bring purpose and meaning to their lives - the shadows they chase. Often they pursue these things with great abandon, without realizing that time and life are passing them by. Their activities and habits and lack of intentional purpose are robbing their futures of their dreams, goals, and joy. Most people chase shadows in things that bring temporal satisfaction or offer quick or short-term results. They are not looking to put in the time, energy, and thought needed to achieve positive, long-lasting results in their lives. There is typically a lack of engagement or awareness that life is fleeting. If there is anything you are pursuing in life that leaves you feeling frustrated or that doesn't bring about the lasting, positive changes, satisfaction, and joy that you want out of life, then you are mostly likely chasing shadows. Our love, desires, motives, attitudes, actions, habits, opportunities, choices, decisions, priorities, failures, setbacks, lack of time management, and procrastination are all things that can keep us from experiencing a full life. While relentlessly pursuing meaning and happiness, many of us end up chasing unhealthy relationships or fail to sustain meaningful ones; we may find ourselves making bad financial decisions or succumbing to bad attitudes that keep us from success.
