Higher Glyphs

Higher Glyphs is a modern interpretation, in drawings and words, of the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt by David L. Laing, self-taught and somewhat eccentric visionary artist and writer. These symbols from antiquity drew the author into their mysterious realm and demanded that he draw them anew for a new millennium. Each glyph is paired with its modern alphabetic counterpart, and each image evokes his musing on wisdom both age-old and evergreen.
David L. Laing is a prolifically creative visionary artist. He writes novels and articles. He plays several instruments and composes music. He practices yoga, curates art exhibits, and inspires video. He paints and he draws, in an inimitable style. His drawings are coiling, twisting, sometimes angular, even fractal, always somewhat otherworldly.
David ‘s words, like his art, are looping and flowing, reflective, recursive, and resonant. He plays with his words, his words play with one another.
