Who is the "bride of Messiah"?

The Church? Messianics? Jews? Israelites?

For nearly 2,000 years, the Christian Church has maintained that the "bride of Christ" is Jesus' followers united in their devotion to him. However, is it possible that Jesus was not only spiritually married to his students but also literally married to a real, historical woman?
