INTRODUCTION Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is more than a simple thriller novel. The story of the disappearance of Amy Elliott Dunne unfolds in chapters that focus on Nick Dunne's perspective, interspersed with diary entries written by Amy Elliott Dunne that provide background and insight for the reader. SETTINGS The events of the novel's primary storyline take place in and around North Carthage, MO, beginning in July of 2012.
