The Kowboys of Kyiv

Long before Manafort and the chaos in Ukraine, there were the Kowboys of Kyiv.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, in an atmosphere of idealism, exploitation and espionage, Western adventurers flocked to Eastern Europe. Some were seeking a new beginning, while others were trying to escape a past that had gone terribly wrong.
In the fall of 1992, Rhett Avery joined the Peace Corps, an eclectic group of misfits who were sent to the newly independent nation of Ukraine as business advisors to teach Capitalism to Communists.
When Rhett is befriended by a former Soviet intelligence officer, who is suspicious that the American might be working for the CIA, Volodomir convinces him to host a country music radio show called "The Cowboy in Kyiv." And before long Rhett becomes a familiar sight as he walks on the streets of Kyiv in his cowboy hat, boots, and duster.
Enter "Crazy" Dave Seigal, a braggadocious American hustler who has the notion of opening up the first cowboy bar in the middle of Kyiv. However, when Dave becomes involved with the Chechen Mafia, it sets in motion a series of events that ensnare Rhett, along with a teenage country singer, a former mob enforcer, and a group of American investors, in a web of treachery and deceit. The toxic mix results in extortion, assassination attempts, and the brutal execution of a gang of young hooligans as The Kowboy Dance Hall & Saloon spirals out of control.
