Weathering Life

The autobiography of veteran Alabama broadcast meteorologist James Spann. It traces his journey from a challenging childhood in rural South Alabama — ham-radio operator and high-school DJ — to a long, decorated career as a chief television meteorologist who covered some of the worst tornado outbreaks in Alabama history. The book grew out of the catastrophic 27 April 2011 outbreak and is framed as an encouragement to its readers.
