Montana is a beautiful state with widely varying topology, gorgeous mountains, incredible national parks and rivers filled with hard fighting trout. People who lived there in the 1950s and 1960s had a different perspective on societal limits. There was a general leniency that allowed drivers to cruise down the highway at 100 MPH without getting a ticket, to drive around town with rifles visible in the back windows of cars and trucks, and to tolerate social interactions that would generate lawsuits in the current litigious environment. My high school not only allowed behaviors that would bring on attorneys from incensed parents today, we documented them with photographs and put the pictures on display in prominent locations. This book is about events in a time when we didn't worry about oligarchs replacing democracy, when a handshake was a binding commitment and when even elected officials generally spoke the truth and acted in the best interest of their constituents and the country. The objective of this collection of the misadventures of myself and fellow Montanans is to make the reader laugh out loud and, for a brief moment, forget about all the issues we Americans are dealing with.Sadly, this is a non-fiction work. The events in this short treatise actually happened. The names of the innocent have been changed to protect their identity. And the guilty, too, including me. Such is the nature of these stories. Many of the events took place in or around Missoula, my home town, and still one of my favorite places on the planet. The star near the western border on the book's cover is where Missoula is located. It is surrounded by mountains and is near some of the finest trout streams in the world. I grew up fly fishing for tail walking Rainbows in these waters. My hope in writing this book is that you laugh loudly and long as you read these stories. Humor is always good medicine, especially in these times. I'm sure some people may find my writing offensive. To them I politely suggest: "Don't read the fxxxxx' book".Enjoy.
