1994; Same As It Ever Was

We've been here before. Right-wing ideologues (and at times left-wing ideologues) push their self-interested agenda on the rest of us, cloaking it in patriotism and the Constitution. The success of American democracy has always lain in the vast middle reining them in from either end. In spite of all our flaws the American public is generally fair and sensible. And they are wisely suspicious of leaving power in the hands of the same entity for too long. So the pendulum will continue to swing, and given the state of the world, may be the best we can hope for.
