The Wealth of Nations

Scottish economist Adam Smith's magnum opus, The Wealth of Nations, is widely credited with laying the theoretical and philosophical foundations of capitalism. This work had an immediate impact on economic thinking, particularly its forceful arguments for the freedom of trade. Published in 1776, on the eve of the American Revolution, The Wealth of Nations is far more than just a treatise on economic theory.
