Separation and/or greeting

Margaret Escott was most widely known as a producer of plays and teacher of drama. She was also a playwright and novelist. Not long before she died in 1977, she appears to have been invaded by the urge and ability to get things down in verse. In a short time she produced this quite substantial collection. The poems are understandably rough-hewn in technique, but they are authentic and honest. They are also inventive and spirited. And they are the record, perhaps the testament, of a notable spirit.
