ELIZABETH HOLMES: Biography, The Fall Of Theranos And The Final Judgement

Holmes, the daughter of a U.S. government assistance worker and a congressional committee employee, grew up in Washington, D.C., and Houston, Texas, and spent time in China during high school. While in China she created a company providing computer software to colleges throughout Asia. After Holmes returned to the U.S., she sought a degree in electrical and chemical engineering at Stanford University.
During a summer vacation from her studies at Stanford, Holmes got a job at the Genome Institute of Singapore to work on a computer chip developed to identify the presence of the SARS virus in the body.
She subsequently got interested in designing more-efficient medical gadgets that may improve upon standard diagnostic tests and treatment evaluation. When she returned to Stanford, Holmes invented a device that adhered to a person’s body and monitored the success of a certain drug by comparing parameters of chemical markers generated by a sick area with those of the therapeutic agent.
