Paul makes frequent connections with his homeland of Wales and the rugged and beautiful landscape that inspires his work. He was born and brought up in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Down the valley from his home slept the remnants of a South Wales industrial heartland, while to the north stood the peaks of Pen-Y-Fan and Corn Du in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
