Featured by the App Store for iPhone Duo
iPhone Duo went on sale on 23 October, and the App Store Editors picked Must Read for Great Apps on iPhone Duo in 65 countries and regions. In 32 of them it is in the Today story as well, and the red book on the story's cover is our icon. Here is where it is, what Must Read does on a phone that folds, and why that matters even if yours doesn't.
Where it is
The collection Great Apps on iPhone Duo sits on the Apps tab in 65 App Store countries and regions, from the UK and Ireland to Mexico, India and Taiwan. In 32 of them the editors also made it a Today story: the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordics, much of Central and Eastern Europe, Portugal, Greece, India and Israel among them.
Look at the cover art. The red book in the second row is the Must Read icon. You can open the story on the App Store.
On launch morning Apple's iPhone Duo team sent me a screenshot of the story on a real iPhone Duo.
On launch day @bestofyasi showed me the Made for iPhone Duo badge on Must Read's App Store page, on a real iPhone Duo, and I shared it on Threads:
It sits next to Netflix, Monzo, Trainline, Depop, Planta and more. Congratulations to every one of them. Several are on my own phone, and it is a pleasure to see what each team did with the fold.
Must Read is also still in Apple's Great Apps Updated for iOS 27 collections in most storefronts, the collections it joined on iOS 27 day.
What it does on a phone that folds
Must Read changes with the way you hold the phone.
- Closed, it is your reading log: the book you're on and how far you've got.
- Open, your whole library is on the big screen, every cover at a glance.
- Open like a book, a classic reads on two facing pages.
- Open and turned sideways, the reading timer and the audiobook player put the book on one side and the controls on the other.
- In 3D, you can pick up a book, turn it in your hands, and put it in your room with AR. That one is new in Must Read 3.7.3.

Six weeks, four updates, mostly on a simulator
My own iPhone Duo arrives in early November. I held one at Apple's workshop on 1 October, and the rest of the work happened on Apple's simulators, one screen at a time: closed, half-open and open, in portrait and in landscape. It took six weeks and four updates, from Must Read 3.7 to 3.7.3.
Getting every screen right on a phone that folds meant going back over the layouts on every other iPhone and on iPad too. So if you never buy a Duo, you still get the work.
Thank you to SiQing Lin and Apple's evangelist team at Battersea Power Station. Their labs and their feedback run all the way through these four updates.
It's the same app on the iPhone you have
You don't need a phone that folds. Must Read is one app on any iPhone running iOS 18 or later, on iPad and on Apple Watch: every book you read in one library, a reading timer you can follow on the Lock Screen, your reading stats, and classics and audiobooks right inside the app. It's free to download, with up to 10 books.
